From inspiration and stories from the construction site, through intensive hands-on training and an installation competition, to a meeting with Mariusz Pudzianowski —that’s what the training day looked like for vocational school students specializing in roofing at the Training Center in Sokołów, which took place at the end of this year’s largest training series for salespeople. This represents concrete support for vocational education and a real investment in the future of the roofing industry.
The training began with a meeting with experienced roofers—practitioners affiliated with the Academy of Crafts—Wojciech Rutkowski and Kamil Wilman. They talked about their career paths, their first jobs, the mistakes that taught them valuable lessons, and how to build a reputation as a reliable contractor. For the students, this provided valuable insight: authentic stories from the field, demonstrating that success in roofing is the result of consistency, quality work, and continuous professional development.
The next stage was a hands-on training session organized by experts from the Academy of Crafts. The students learned the principles of proper roofing assembly and the construction of roof details, as well as the technical standards applicable to modern roofing systems. The instructors discussed the most common installation errors and emphasized the importance of precision and adherence to the manufacturer’s guidelines. This was concrete, technical knowledge conveyed using real-world examples from construction sites.
The timed modular barge flashing assembly competition generated a lot of excitement. The competition took place under conditions similar to those on a real construction site, with an emphasis on proper execution and safety. This element not only engaged the participants but also demonstrated how important precision, work organization, and the ability to work under time pressure are in the roofing profession.
A highlight of the event was the meeting with a special guest—Marius Pudzianowski. His story, built on consistency, hard work, and determination, served as a powerful motivational message. The message was clear: regardless of the career path you choose, the foundation of success lies in discipline and taking responsibility for your own development.
At the end of the visit, the students toured the production facility and the research laboratory. They were able to observe the process of manufacturing roofing metal sheets, quality control, and tests of the materials’ resistance to weather conditions and corrosion. This rounded out the training by providing a comprehensive overview of the industry—from production, through technology, to assembly on the roof.
Initiatives like these are part of a long-term partnership with vocational schools and a conscious effort to support vocational education. Future roofers gain access to a real-world work environment, practical knowledge, and the expertise of industry professionals. Schools gain an industry partner, and the roofing market gains a better-prepared workforce.
Investing in young professionals is an investment in quality, safety, and the stable growth of the entire construction industry. And it all starts with a well-designed training program.
