Łukasz Byśkiniewicz and Daniel Siatkowski took 2nd place in the overall standings of the Valvoline Małopolska Rally, the third round of the Polish Rally Championship. The TVN TURBO RALLY TEAM crew competed for the win over the course of three days, with the final margins between the top competitors measured in single seconds.
This year’s edition of the rally featured one of the most evenly matched and thrilling competitions of the season so far. From the very first special stage, Byśkiniewicz and Siatkowski remained among the leaders, effectively battling the Szej brothers, Jarosław and Marcin.
After the first day of competition, the TVN TURBO RALLY TEAM crew was in the lead by 1.2 seconds. At the end of the second stage, the gap was just 0.3 seconds, which promised an extremely close finish. The final results were decided during the third stage of the rally on Saturday.
After completing nearly 150 kilometers of special stages, Łukasz Byśkiniewicz and Daniel Siatkowski finished in 2nd place in the overall standings. They finished just 7.3 seconds behind the winners. This was the team’s third second-place finish in this year’s RSMP season.
“Itwas a very exciting rally for us, our team, the fans along the route, and those following the action on TV and online. For three days, we fought a fierce battle for the win against the Szej brothers. We traded victories on the special stages. Every blow we landed was met with an immediate response. The arena consisted of hellishly difficult, winding, and narrow special stages where it was often possible to cut corners. A small mistake or a moment’s hesitation could send you off the road, as many crews found out the hard way. I consider the Valvoline Małopolska Rally to be the toughest of the season. That makes us all the more pleased with our second-place finish. I’m also pleased with our two victories on the new Lanckorona stage. This is our third second-place finish this season, which gives us a lot of points toward the annual standings. We’re also in second place in the overall standings, just 5 points behind the leaders. In just three weeks, we’ll be competing in the most important rally event in our country—the Polish Rally—which will take place on the last weekend of July,” said Łukasz Byśkiniewicz after the rally.
The route of the Valvoline Małopolska Rally was one of the most demanding of this year’s season. The narrow, winding, and technical stages left no room for error, and even the slightest hesitation could mean losing precious seconds or veering off the road.
One of the crew’s most significant achievements was setting the two fastest times on the Lanckorona special stage, which returned to the Polish Rally Championship calendar after many years. It is an iconic stage, known from the history of the Kraków Rally and the rivalry between drivers such as Krzysztof Hołowczyc, Janusz Kulig, Leszek Kuzaj, and Tomasz Kuchar.
For Łukasz Byśkiniewicz, this was his first race on this course. The varying pace, differing traction, road width, and significant elevation changes made his success at Lanckorona particularly meaningful. Achieving the best result twice made it all the more satisfying.
During the Valvoline Małopolska Rally, Daniel Siatkowski replaced Łukasz Jastrzębski. The team’s regular co-driver was competing in the Rally of Rome, a round of the European Rally Championship, at the time.
“I’mvery happy that I was able to help Łukasz achieve another great result in this year’s Polish Rally Championship. I was filling in for Łukasz Jastrzębski, who was competing in the Rally of Rome—a round of the European Rally Championship—at the same time. I really enjoy the Valvoline Małopolska Rally. We’ve always left here with fond memories, and this time was no different. “I’m glad I was able to compete, take a break from my daily responsibilities, and experience real rally competition at the highest level,” added Daniel Siatkowski.
With another podium finish, the TVN TURBO RALLY TEAM has solidified its second-place position in the season standings. After three rounds of the Polish Rally Championship, the team trails the leaders by just 5 points. The battle for the championship title therefore remains wide open.
The team faces another major challenge. At the end of July, the drivers will compete in the Rally of Poland, one of the most important and prestigious rally events held in our country.
