The Young Architect’s Business – Practical Education and Market Realities

Biznes młodego architekta

In April 2026, the latest edition of the “Young Architect’s Business” program took place, organized by Architektura & Biznes—an initiative that provides practical support for the development of future architects’ professional skills. As a sponsor of the event, the Blachy Pruszyński Company actively participated in this initiative, emphasizing the importance of education and helping young people make an informed entry into the job market.

The meetings were held at two of Poland’s leading technical universities—on April 22 at the Faculty of Architecture of Gdańsk University of Technology and on April 23 at the Faculty of Architecture of Warsaw University of Technology. The event was attended by students, young designers, and those preparing to enter the job market.

The central element of the program was a series of presentations by experienced architects: Karol Nieradkafrom the MAXBERG Architektura firm and Wojciech Kotecki from BBGK Architekci. The speakers presented practical aspects of running a design practice—from studio management and pricing services to building long-term relationships with clients and developers. Particular attention was paid to the challenges that arise at the beginning of a professional career and ways to effectively address them.

Another important part of the event was the review of participants’ work and one-on-one discussions with experts. This allowed for a genuine exchange of experiences and individual support for professional development, which significantly enhanced the value of the entire meeting.

“The Young Architect’s Business” addresses the real gap between academic education and market demands. Topics such as pricing design work, professional liability, and managing business relationships are still underrepresented in academic curricula, even though they form the foundation for success in the industry.

The event received extensive publicity—information about the meetings was published, among other places, on the organizer’s social media channels, as well as those of architectural communities and universities, which resulted in high attendance and strong engagement from participants.

Blachy Pruszyński Company, as a sponsor of the event, supported the initiative, emphasizing the importance of investing in the education and development of future professionals in the architecture industry. These efforts have a tangible impact on building an informed and responsible market.

From the perspective of the industry as a whole, there is a clearly growing need to combine design expertise with business knowledge. Initiatives such as “Young Architect’s Business” not only bridge this gap but also prepare young architects to operate effectively and with awareness in a dynamic professional environment.
