Materials for NIAGARA Gutters

NIAGARA gutters are a multi-variant drainage system manufactured by Blachy Pruszyński. All our gutters are metallic, available in several raw material options. The most popular material is polyurethane-coated metal gutters. However, our offer also includes gutters made of galvanized steel, as well as alloys: titanium-aluminum and titanium-zinc.

Material types

NIAGARA Round gutters offer the widest selection of materials, with as many as 4 different raw materials to choose from.

Polyurethane

Polyurethane is a flexible coating resistant to atmospheric factors and mechanical damage. It is applied during the production stage at the steel mill onto galvanized steel sheets with a strictly specified composition. By combining the properties of steel, such as durability and strength, with the characteristics of the coating – very low susceptibility to corrosion and weather conditions, as well as high resistance to mechanical damage and flexibility – we obtain a material perfectly suited for gutter systems, such as NIAGARA Round. In our system, the coating is applied on both sides, ensuring the entire gutter element offers the same level of protection.

Steel gutters with a polyurethane coating provide a robust solution for buildings, especially in locations with diverse weather conditions. The numerous advantages of this material assist in effective rainwater drainage and protecting the building from harmful environmental influences. An additional benefit of the polyurethane coating is the wide color palette, allowing gutters to be matched to any house design.

Galvanized

Galvanized steel is a material with an attractive price and short lead times, typically used in farm and industrial buildings. This material consists of a steel sheet coated with a thick layer of zinc at the metallurgical stage. This automated process ensures color stability and high resistance to corrosion and atmospheric factors. The fundamental difference from other systems is the absence of an additional lacquer coating, which is compensated for by a thicker zinc layer.

Individual guttering components made from this material are produced using modern machinery, ensuring repeatability, fluidity, and easy fitting between elements. These features make galvanized steel guttering the most frequently chosen gutter system in Poland.

Advantages of galvanized steel as a gutter system material:

  • good protective properties
  • high resistance to adverse weather conditions
  • highest mechanical strength among all materials used for gutter systems
  • relatively long service life (estimated up to 50 years)
  • entire gutter systems and individual components are available in various color variants (e.g., black, white, red, copper, silver, and even gold), allowing for matching with the facade, roofing, soffit, joinery, or garden architecture
  • relatively high resistance to damage and loads

Titan-Zinc

Zinc alloy with the addition of titanium, copper, and aluminum is a modern, high-durability material that is durable, reliable, and relatively easy to form. Furthermore, upon exposure to air, it naturally forms a protective surface layer that is corrosion-resistant and provides an aesthetic appearance. These properties make this alloy quite unique and extremely useful in many different applications; it is frequently chosen by architects seeking materials that can meet the most sophisticated architectural challenges.

Titanium-zinc sheet is successfully used for facades, roofs, architectural elements, and specifically roof drainage systems, such as the NIAGARA Titan-Zinc available in our offer.

Depending on the specific characteristics and processing of the alloy, zinc-titanium sheet comes in two varieties:

  • NATURA, a natural finish with a metallic gloss, which will naturally transform into a light gray patina under the influence of atmospheric factors.
  • PATYNA, featuring a slightly gray, matte surface with a uniform patina obtained through a technological process.

Advantages of the Titan-Zinc alloy:

  • high durability (80–120 years)
  • scratch resistance
  • high resistance to loads, e.g., caused by snow
  • requires no paint coating
  • aesthetic appearance

Titanium

Gutter systems made of alloys with a predominant share of aluminum, such as NIAGARA Titanium, are recommended for use in areas with high environmental pollution, coastal regions, and forested areas. Aluminum as a metal is characterized by low self-weight and the possibility of installation in temperatures ranging from -15 to +40°C. Aluminum in its pure form, despite numerous advantages from a gutter system perspective, is also a relatively soft metal and prone to deformation. Therefore, in the case of gutter systems, specially developed alloys with the addition of, among others, titanium are used.

Thanks to this, the raw material obtains the desired properties while maintaining numerous advantages resulting from such a combination, such as:

  • eco-friendliness (relatively easy to recycle)
  • lightweight
  • extraordinary corrosion resistance and very high durability
  • ease of handling

The appropriate use of various metal additives, including copper, manganese, or magnesium, allows for maintaining good material plasticity, which is crucial both for profiling gutter system elements and subsequent installation. Due to the native properties of this alloy, it is not necessary to cover it with an additional protective coating, and the available NIAGARA Titanium colors in our offer primarily serve an aesthetic purpose.
