The 2025/2026 season in Polish volleyball is entering its most crucial phase. In both the PlusLiga and the TAURON League, the fate of the medals is being decided, and fans are watching some of the most thrilling playoffs in recent years. The competitions, sponsored in part by the Blachy Pruszyński Company—which supports both the PlusLiga and the TAURON League—are delivering many unexpected outcomes this season.
The PlusLiga is currently in the decisive phase of the playoffs, with the top teams competing for a spot in the final and for medals. The end of the semifinals featured closely contested series, often decided in three matches, which only confirms how evenly matched the league is this season.
The matches that determine the final standings are played in late April and early May. The matches scheduled for April 25 and 27 kick off the championship series and the bronze medal series, which—like the gold medal series—are best-of-three.
Among the standout players in the playoffs are, among others, Kamil Rychlicki, one of his team’s offensive leaders, Patrik Indra—the league’s leading scorer—and Bartosz Filipiak, who consistently posts high offensive efficiency. It is precisely the form of these leaders that could determine the final outcomes.
This year’s lineup for the finals comes as a huge surprise to the experts. The biggest sensation is the absence of Jastrzębski Węgiel—the defending champion and top favorite—which had to concede defeat to the high-flying team from Lublin. For the first time in years, PGE Projekt Warszawa will also be absent from the battle for gold; despite dominating the regular season, the team couldn’t handle the pressure in the playoffs. This signals that a changing of the guard is underway in Polish volleyball, and the “old guard” must start looking over its shoulder.
In the TAURON League, the race for the Polish championship is already in its final stretch. In the finals, KS DevelopRes Rzeszów will face PGE Budowlani Łódź in a best-of-three series.
After three matches, the Rzeszów women’s volleyball team is closer to the title; they have taken the lead and could clinch the championship as early as their next match. The next match is scheduled for April 26 in Łódź—a potential decisive match will take place a few days later in Rzeszów.
At the same time, the battle for the bronze medal is underway, with UNI Opole and BKS Bostik ZGO Bielsko-Biała competing. This series is also full of excitement and may not be decided until the very last possible game.
Among the top players, Katarzyna Zaroślińska-Król—the offensive leader of UNI Opole—Maja Storck of Budowlani Łódź, and Julia Nowicka, who plays a key role as setter in organizing her team’s play, stand out.
In the Tauron League, Grupa Azoty Chemik Police’s failure to advance to the medal round is an event that will go down in history. The multiple Polish champions this time fell to the determination of younger teams. Fans in Bielsko-Biała experienced a similar disappointment—their BKS Bostik ZGO, after winning the Polish Cup, was one step away from the grand final, but PGE Budowlani Łódź proved to be the “dark horse” of the tournament, knocking the favorites out of the race for gold.
The coming days will bring the final outcomes in both leagues. In the PlusLiga, the medal series are about to begin, while in the TAURON League, the Polish champion could already be crowned.
This is the stage of the season where success comes down to the details—form on the day, the effectiveness of the key players, and mental preparation. Everything points to the fact that the final stretch of the season will provide volleyball fans with top-notch excitement.
