Roof of the Year 2024 Contest – Recognized Projects and Solid Roofing Craftsmanship

Dach Roku 2024

The Roof of the Year competition is an industry initiative organized by the magazine *Fachowy Dekarz & Cieśla*, aimed at roofers, carpenters, and sheet metal workers who prioritize reliability, technical accuracy, and attention to detail in their work. For several years now, the competition has served as a platform for showcasing projects that demonstrate what a well-built roof looks like in practice—not as a matter of chance, but as the result of the contractor’s informed decisions and experience.

The trade magazine *Dekarz & Cieśla*, supported by the fachowydekarz.pl website, has for years focused on the practical aspects of roofing. The published content covers roof coverings, structures, roof accessories, and sheet metal solutions, addressing the real-world challenges contractors face on construction sites. The website also serves as a platform for showcasing interesting roofing projects, which become a point of reference and a source of inspiration for other professionals.

The Roof of the Year competition, launched in 2022, is a natural extension of these activities. It covers pitched and flat roofs, renovations, and projects on historic buildings. Submitted projects are evaluated based on the quality of workmanship, technical accuracy, aesthetics, and the skillful selection of materials. Importantly, the projects are presented to the public, which allows the competition to foster the exchange of experiences and showcase best practices across the entire industry.

The awards for the 2024 Roof of the Year competition were presented during the Dach Forum 2026 trade show in Kielce. Andrii Makhinia of Roofsquad received the grand prize for the installation of an SSQ Riverstone slate roof.

However, the award given for a project using materials from the Blachy Pruszyński Company drew particular attention. Patryk Fiedczak of Efekt Dachy received the award for the best roof constructed with Blachy Pruszyński Company products. This is not his first success in the Roof of the Year competition — Patryk Fiedczak has previously been among the winners (photos of this project can be viewed on our inspiration page), which clearly shows that the recognition of his work is not a one-time honor, but the result of a consistently high standard of workmanship.

Patryk Fiedczak’s projects stand out for their attention to detail, proper execution at every stage, and skillful use of modular roofing systems. This approach focuses not only on the final result visible from the ground, but also on what remains unseen once the project is complete—proper layering, watertightness, durability, and the aesthetics of the details. The fact that he has repeatedly won awards in the Roof of the Year competition confirms that this approach translates into tangible quality, which is also recognized by the industry jury.

The Roof of the Year competition demonstrates that roofing is a profession that requires knowledge, responsibility, and experience. It recognizes contractors who build their reputation on the basis of solid workmanship, rather than one-off projects. For the industry, this is a clear signal that a well-built roof still matters—both for the client and for the trade itself.

The organizers have announced the next edition of the competition, and detailed information regarding its rules and the deadline for submissions will be announced after the official launch of the new edition of Roof of the Year.
