PGE Grot Budowlani Łódź won the 2026 TAURON Polish Women’s Cup, confirming that the tournament’s final is one of the most important and prestigious events in Polish women’s volleyball.
The grand final, held on February 8 in Elbląg, ended in a one-sided victory for the Łódź team, which defeated BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała 3–0 without dropping a set and lifted the trophy for the third time in the club’s history (previously in 2010 and 2018).
The TAURON Polish Women’s Cup is a unique competition. It combines top-level athletic competition with the idea of equal opportunity—every match is a “do-or-die” situation, with no room for strategic calculations. The Final Four format means that success depends not only on skill, but also on mental toughness, form on the day, and the ability to handle pressure. In Elbląg, all these elements came together seamlessly for the team from Łódź.
The semifinals alone were packed with excitement and delivered one of the biggest upsets of the season. PGE Grot Budowlani Łódź eliminated DevelopRes Rzeszów, the current leader of the TAURON League and defending champion, winning 3–1 (22–25, 25–19, 13–25, 18–25). In the other semifinal, BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała confidently defeated Netland MKS Kalisz 3–0 (20–25, 20–25, 21–25), advancing to the final.
The decisive match, however, unfolded quite differently than the earlier stages of the tournament might have suggested. The final was a display of dominance by PGE Grot Budowlani, who won two sets 13-0, controlling the match from the first ball to the last. Only in the second set did the Bielsko-Biała team briefly get back into the game, closing the gap from 17–24 to 22–24, but an effective block by the Łódź team sealed the victory.
Maja Storck was the star of the entire tournament. The Budowlani outside hitter scored 23 points in the semifinals and 13 in the final, earning the MVP award. Joining her on the “Dream Team” were, among others, Alicja Grabka, Paulina Damaske, Aleksandra Gryka, and Justyna Łysiak, which only confirms the high level of play throughout the Final Four.
Elbląg has once again proven itself to be a volleyball-friendly city. Full stands, enthusiastic cheering, and excellent organization created an atmosphere worthy of a national championship final. Despite personnel issues faced by some teams, the excitement and level of play remained exceptionally high.
For years, the TAURON Polish Women’s Cup has been not only a competition at the highest level, but also a space where sports and social responsibility come together. The Blachy Pruszyński Company, as a long-standing partner of Polish Volleyball, actively supports the development of the sport—both at the club level and at the national team level. This is part of a CSR strategy that promotes sports, a healthy lifestyle, and the values of fair play, cooperation, and engagement in local communities.
Events such as the TAURON Polish Women’s Cup final show that investing in sports has a real impact on the future of Polish volleyball. It is also proof that business and sports can work together toward a common goal—to the benefit of the players, fans, and the entire community. The tournament in Elbląg will go down in history as one of the most one-sided finals in recent years, but also as another important step in the development and promotion of women’s volleyball in Poland.
