Types of roofing – not just a metal roofing sheet

If we talk about tin roofing, then we usually mean roofing metal. No wonder, because most investors building houses just cover the roofs with them, appreciating their utility and aesthetic values. However, this is not the only sheet metal covering. So what can we still cover the roof?

The tin roofing has been enjoying unflagging popularity for many years, primarily due to the large design of shapes and colors, thanks to which they enable the implementation of even the wildest projects, as well as traditional manor houses. They are also relatively cheap, at the same time durable and durable – which is confirmed by the manufacturer’s long warranty (often up to 50 years). The undoubted advantage of covering from sheet metal is also the ease of assembly, and thus elimination of executive errors. Due to their small weight, they can be laid on both new, strong roof trusses and those weakened by several decades of time. Place the sheet metal covers on a rigid cover and a scratch of patches and counterparts.

Roof tiles always on top

The roof tiles are made of steel sheet, on both sides galvanized and additionally covered with varnish and protective coatings, which increase the resistance of corrosion, UV radiation, scratches or mechanical damage. They are available in many colors, thus meeting even the most sophisticated investors’ requirements (from popular gray, graphite, through traditional red to green, blue and even avant -garde yellow) and embossing – starting with traditional roofing tiles (e.g. ruby or sapphire of the company Pruszyński sheet), through sophisticated variations (e.g. Loara), ending with a Scandinavian -style metal sheet (fjord). We can choose among cutting metal roof tiles or panels. Dimensions are often sold in sheets up to 8 m long. They will work with straight, single or double-colored roofs. Of course, we can arrange them on highly developed roofs, but in this case we have to reckon with a lot of waste, so they will simply be uneconomical. On the other hand, panel roof tiles have the form of small sheets and these coverings are recommended for complex roofs, although they are also great on straight roofs.

Seam sheet – modern panels

Traditionally, the combination of sheets for standing seams is made manually, but this work requires great roofing skills and is laborious. Currently, the roof panels for the seam are gaining popularity – the seam is already properly profiled in the factory. Installation of the roofing is fast, because the panels are connected using snap locks. We select standing panels depending on the slope of the roof. The rule is – the smaller the slope of the roof slope, the larger the seam should be. The panels are produced for any length depending on the needs of a specific roof – the width is already imposed by the manufacturer of the cover. Thanks to this, we get a uniform surface without horizontal connections. Standing seam panels will work as covering modern houses and historic buildings.

Trapezoidal sheet – unusual solution

We usually see trapezoidal sheet on outbuildings or industrial buildings. However, nothing prevents you from finishing the roof of a single -family house. Trapezoidal sheets are most often made of galvanized steel (then they have a characteristic silver color), they are also available with colorful protective coatings. Manufacturers offer trapezoidal sheets in several profiles. The effect of almost flat covering will be achieved by using TR-14 or TR-18 sheet-the number determines the height of the cover in millimeters, so the higher the number, the higher the embossing. The trapezoidal sheet can cover all roofs of any angle of inclination (up to 90O), but they look best on straight roofs, in addition, in this case it is an economical solution, because after construction a small amount of waste remains.
