Fasteners for sandwich panels
Sandwich panels are attached to the steel structure with self-drilling fasteners.
- Self-drilling fasteners are used to fasten panels to a steel structure with a maximum wall thickness of 6/12 mm.
- The connectors are made of hardened carbon steel surface protected against corrosion.
- All fasteners are fitted with vulcanized EPDM washers.
- The diameter of the working thread is 5.5 mm.
The PWD-W boards are fastened with two or three fasteners across the width using calottes – in the case of trapezoidal folds. In the case of steel structures whose thickness exceeds 12 mm and concrete structures, it is possible to use other connectors:
- for steel substrate (thicker than 12 mm) – special self-tapping fasteners with a properly shaped outline of the working thread are recommended,
- for a concrete substrate, special fasteners with an expansion element or self-tapping fasteners with a specially shaped working thread are recommended. Special power tools should be used for screwing in the fasteners – a screwdriver with a special head enabling proper guiding of the fastener and a screwing depth limiter.
