Replacing the old coverage is not only a big expense, but also a big logistic challenge. In addition, it disorganizes the life of the household. For these reasons, renovation is good to limit to the necessary minimum. If we choose a metal roof tile, all work will run quickly, and the new roof will be aesthetic and durable.

Decent decades of roofing are usually not in the best condition. Leaking, corroded or destroyed before strong wind, snow or UV radiation does not fulfill its functions. It may happen that the weakened structure will not be able to maintain the weight of the new cover. If nothing raises objections, it is enough to dismantle the old cover and arrange new ones.

Roof replacement – necessary formalities

Replacement of only roofing does not require obtaining a building permit, but the intention to carry out a roof renovation must be reported to the City Hall or the Poviat Starosty at the Faculty of Architectural and Construction. The application should specify the date of commencement of work, as well as the scope and manner of conducting works. Let’s not wait too long with the notification, because the office has 21 days from receipt of the application to an objection. If we do not get any information during this period, we can start renovating the roof. The situation is different when renovation works change the technical or utility parameters of the house – e.g. replacing the truss, the insertion of the roof window is already defined as a reconstruction. In this case, the intention to renovate is also reported in the appropriate office, in addition, the application should be accompanied by a project prepared by a designer with permissions. We do the same when the renovation changes the volume or the area of the influence of the building, as a result of its superstructure or the addition of e.g. dormers. If the reconstruction increases the building’s impact area into neighboring properties, then we must apply for a building permit. It is also necessarily when we plan to replace the roof cover of a building entered in the register of monuments or covered by conservation protection.

Roofing tile – good choice

When choosing a cover material, you should be guided by its weight, because it cannot burden the roof truss too much time. Remember that each structure has a load -bearing capacity specified by the designer. Therefore, the new cover should be the same as old or lighter. The metal roof tile will work as a covering material on each roof. It is light, durable, easy to install and available in many attractive colors.

We can opt for a roof tile cut to size or panel. What about the old roofing

Old roofing of felt and other tarry materials, as well as asbestos plates must be utilized. Remember that specialized companies should deal with dismantling, transport and utilization of asbestos. However, the damaged metal roof tile can be given to scrap metal, and the tiles can be used to harden soil, e.g. as a foundation for the house or reused if it is in good condition.
