Barge flashing

VERGE FLASHINGS

Verge flashings are used on the side edges of the roof that end at the building’s gable walls. Their main function is to protect these edges from atmospheric factors such as wind and rain. These flashings secure the roof against the lifting of the covering by the wind and prevent leaks along the side edges. Verge flashings are usually made of steel sheets matched to the color and style of the roof covering. In addition to their protective function, verge flashings provide an aesthetic finish to the side edges of the roof, often integrated with facade elements.

Barge flashing

Barge flashing belongs to the verge flashings group, installed on the side edge of the roof. Its universal character allows it to be used with all types of roof coverings: from modular roof tiles to trapezoidal sheets and standing seam panels.

Along with other elements and flashings, such as fascia flashing or drainage channels (note – do not confuse with valley gutters!), they are basic elements for finishing a metal roof. The upper barge flashing allows for sealing and strengthening the side edge of the roof slope – protecting it both from leaking during heavy rainfall and from the roof covering being lifted in the event of particularly strong wind gusts.
