SIDEWALL FLASHINGS
Sidewall flashing, also known as abutment flashing, is a technical solution used where the roof meets vertical elements of the building, such as walls, chimneys, or parapets. Its purpose is to seal these connections and prevent water from entering the structure. This flashing usually consists of two parts: the lower flashing (installed on the roof slope at the point of contact with the wall) and the upper flashing (fixed to the wall or chimney, often covered with a pressure bar). The entire assembly is sealed with silicone or special sealing tapes to maintain full tightness. They are most commonly made of galvanized metal sheets covered with protective coatings, which can even double their resistance to corrosion.
J-strip
The J-strip is an extremely popular and useful mounting flashing from the wall flashing group. Its name comes from the characteristic shape of its cross-section, which resembles the letter “J”. It has several applications. Most commonly, it is used during the installation of metal soffits, allowing for easy insertion of the soffit panel. This provides an aesthetic finish to the eaves, and thanks to the materials it is made of, it features exceptional durability.
The J-strip is also widely used in NIAGARA gutter systems, where it is utilized for mounting the lower cover plate in both the Round and Square systems. Roofers also frequently use it when installing trapezoidal sheets roof coverings.
